General Introduction to Akita (or Akita Inu)
Akita dogs are also called Akita Inu. This is a breed of large dogs and unique shape, that originated in Japan. This breed is sometimes called Akita ken based on Japanese readings.
Akita Physical Appearance
Akita dogs are aristocratic, this breed is elegant and powerful they are also aggressive towards other dogs. Males weight around 34-55kg and females weigh around 34-50kg. Size of males is around 28 inches and bitches size is 26 inches. The neck is thick and muscular. The tail is large full and curled. Ears are curved and triangular.
Colors of Akita
Akitas are found in almost all the colors in US. Normally they are in pure white color as well as Red Brindle Fawn and Sesame colors. All the colors except pure white are having white colored hairs on their body, neck, cheeks and tail. They are having black colored hair between eyes and nose.

History of Akita
In older times Akita dogs were used for hunting by matagis, due to their large size. At that times they were called Matagi Inu. Their size was not as large as the breed is having today. These dogs were used to guard kids and were also used in place of babysitters. They were also used for killing bears but usually they were used as guards. At the time of World War 2 a postage stamps at Japan were launched on this dog breed.
Nature of Akita
This Akita breed is recommended for guarding houses. The dog is not suitable for apartments due to the body temperature and size of this breed. These dogs are quite in nature. Due to this nature they only provide simple clue at someone’s entrance or presence. Before purchasing this breed we must be familiar to its nature to handle them easily. This breed is not a bad pets for humans, in fact they are loyal to their owner.
