General Introduction to American Foxhound
American FoxHound are also called Foxhound This dog breed originated in United States. The dogs have great speed and stamina. The foxhounds easily mix with the members of the family where they live. The breed is one of the intelligent creatures as they quickly learn how to open gates and small fences. On the hunt basis the dog breed is a warrier breed.
History of American Foxhound
Long time ago in 1650, Robert Brook sailed to a Crown Colony in America. He took along some hunting dogs. The dogs remained in their for more than 300 years, which root to several strains of American Hounds. Today there are several different strains of American Foxhound such as Penn-Marydel, Walker, Trigg etc. These breeds look quite different form each other but they belong to the same family.
Physical Appearance of American Foxhound
The standard breed of American Foxhound is about 21-25 inches tall and they weigh about 65-75 pounds or 29-34-kgs. Legs of the American Foxhound breed dog are very long and are straight boned. The ears of the breed are wide and low set. The dog is not affected by any kind of genetic disorder, rather overfeeding may cause them to gain weight.
They have a very strong hunting instict and thus they should not be trusted offlead. They could easily get involved in an accident because they are not street savvy and will follow the scent

The American Foxhound are found in black and brown and golden color with the base color as white.
Misc. of American Foxhound
The American Foxhound dog breed is a kind and loyal dog. The dog loves to stay at home. The breed needs a careful training. On one hand owner try to give training their dog, and on the other hand the dog get bored. When foxhound gets bored, they can be very destructive to keep themselves entertained. Destructive actions can be scratching the doors, tearing the toys, bead sheets, shoes etc. The breed doesn’t like long walks so the owner should made dog door and secure yard at their places.
