The Belgian Tervurens belongs to herding or sheepdog group. The origin of this dog dates back to1880. The Belgian Tervurens dog was mostly used for herding the sheep and as a watchdog. The Belgian Tervurens is also known by the names of Belgian Shepherd dog and Chien de Berger Belge. Average lifespan of Belgian Tervurens is 12 to 14 years.

In physical appearance the Belgian Tervurens resembles a Belgian sheepdog very closely. It has a large or medium sized body. The male Belgian Tervurens is around 24 to 26 inches in height and the female is around 22 to 24 inches high. It needs proper training since childhood otherwise it can become shy and sometimes aggressive in nature. It bonds with the family and the kids very well.
