The Belgian Tervurens belongs to herding or sheepdog group. The origin of this dog dates back to1880. The Belgian Tervurens dog was mostly used for herding the sheep and as a watchdog. The Belgian Tervurens is also known by the names of Belgian Shepherd dog and Chien de Berger Belge. Average lifespan of Belgian Tervurens is 12 to 14 years.

In physical appearance the Belgian Tervurens resembles a Belgian sheepdog very closely. It has a large or medium sized body. The male Belgian Tervurens is around 24 to 26 inches in height and the female is around 22 to 24 inches high. The Belgian Tervurens male weighs around 29 to 34 kilograms and weight of a female Belgian Tervurens is 27 to 32 kilograms. The Belgian Tervurens has a very strong and muscular body. Its legs are very strong and muscular.

The Belgian Tervurens is a very intelligent, protective and has a very gentle nature. It is a very obedient dog. It can take very good care of sheep. It needs proper training since childhood otherwise it can become shy and sometimes aggressive in nature. It bonds with the family and the kids very well. The Belgian Tervurens can be considered a very good herding or watchdog.
