The Borzois belongs to the hound group. The origin of the Borzois dates back to seventeenth century. They originally belonged to Arabia and were shipped to Russia. They were very good at hunting wolves so they were given the name of a Wolfhound. The Borzois is also known with the name of Russian wolfhound. The average life span of the Borzois is around10 to 13 years.

Physical Characteristics
The Borzois is a large sized animal. It stands very tall. The average height of healthy male Borzois is about 28 inches. And the average height of a female is 26 inches. The male weighs around 75 to 110 pounds. The female is a bit lighter and weighs around 60 to 100 pounds. The tail of the borzois is long and hangs down. The head is long and narrow. The muzzle of the borzois is a bit arched. The coat of this dog is very beautiful having very beautiful, silky hair. The colour of the borzois includes a number of colours they can be white, tan or grey and may have dark markings on their body.
Nature of Breed
The Borzois or the Russian wolfhound is a very smart and intelligent animal. It is very loving and affectionate. Sometimes they use their own will instead of the trainer’s orders, making their training a bit difficult. It is very quiet in nature, and sit very calmly and silently. Though the Borzois does not have any problems with other pets or children, still care needs to be taken when small kids or pets are around as they can get hurt.
