The Boxer belongs to the working or utility dog group. The origin of the Boxer dates back to ancient Greece. The boxer is known to be used as a help during hunting. The Boxer is also known with the name of German Boxer, Deutscher Boxer. The average life span of the Boxer is around 9 to 11 years.

Physical Characteristics
The Boxer is a large animal. It is a strong and muscular dog. The average height of healthy male Boxer is about 23 to25 inches. And that of a female is 21 to 23.5 inches. A healthy male weighs around 27 to 32 kilograms. And the weight of a female is around 25 to 29 kilograms. The nose is short. The skull is very much square. The coat of this dog is very fine and thin, and can be maintained easily. The Boxer is mostly brindle or brown coloured and may have white or black markings on their body.

Nature of Breed
The Boxer is a very faithful dog. It can be trained very easily with rewards given many a times. It does not respond to training if punished for not doing something. The Boxers do not have any issue with other pets but they tend to chase cats and other small animals, so proper socializing is necessary. They bond with the humans to a great extent. They are very playful and joyous in nature. On contrast the Boxer is a very loyal and fun loving dog who plays a lot.
