The Brittany belongs to the sporting dog group. It origins of the Brittany are not known to the correct extent. But the first Brittany appeared in dog shows in the year 1896.this dog is mainly used for bird hunting. The Brittany is also known with the name of American Brittany, Epagneul Breton and Breton Peasant’s Hunting Dog. The average life span of the Brittany is ten to twelve years.
Physical Characteristics
The Brittany has a medium sized body. The height of male or female is same. Average height of the Brittany is 17.5 to 20.5 inches. The weight of a male is around 35 to 40 pounds whereas the female can weigh 30 to 40 pounds. The legs of Brittany are long. It can naturally have a long tail or a short one. The thighs of the Brittany are very muscular and healthy. The Brittany comes in orange with white, liver with white, roan patterns, or tri-colored patterns. In case of tricolored version have combination of liver and white having orange marks on some body parts.
Nature of Breed
The Brittany is a natural hunter. It is very intelligent and obedient dog. It has a very happy nature, and is always eager to do things. It is a very sensitive dog, and responds to the environment at home. It gets bored easily. It needs constant company and some activity to do otherwise it can become problematic if left alone for long periods. Brittany is a very well natured dog who can become a very good companion.
