Breed Description
The Canaan Dogs is a pariah dog from the ancient time of Israel. The Canaan Dog is used as herding dog to protect the flock of sheep from other animals and also used as guard dog to protect those who slept in the camp. It is a natural herder.

Physical Characteristics
The Canaan Dog is a medium size with an overall proportionate body. The pricked ears, almond shaped eyes, wedge shaped head and long legs with straight paw which resembles cat are all the some special features of this breed. The Canaan dogs have an average life span of 12 –15 years. Both the male and female Canaan Dogs have height of 48 -61 cm with weight of 16-25 kg. The female Canaan dog averagely give birth 4-6 puppies. The Canaan Dogs are found in many colors like Solid Black, some reds that can lighten over time, brown or white, as well as a pattern of white with brown or black patches. Since it is a moderate shed dog, with medium size of hair.

Nature of Breed
The Canaan Dog is a good worker dog which likes to complete its task .It is independent in nature which can able to handle the task without much supervision. It is perfect breed for those that might not have a lot of time to give a dog breed a lot of attention. It means does not require lot of interaction in order to be satisfied. These higher intelligent dogs tend to be bored when they adopted to repetitive tasks. So the best way to develop this Canaan dog is to challenge them with new things with new environment. Since this breed has easy going character it is very much suitable to have in family setting. This breed is suitable for any environment, only thing it requires plenty of exercise.
