Breed Description
The Cardigan Welsh Corgis is one of the oldest breed from U. K .This breed is used as Herd Dog by the peoples of Wales. As a result it is called as Cardigan Welsh Corgis.
Physical Characteristics
This breed with a weather proof coat is a small herding dog. The body structure of this dog resembles Dashshund. Often it is confused with the Pembroke Welsh Corgi which is its closest relative.But only the tail makes them difference. The lifespan of cardi ranges from 12-14 years. In both the male and female are of height (26-31cm). But in weight male is (14-17 kg), while female weighs (11-14 kg).The female cardi averagely give birth to 5-7 puppies.
This Cardigan welsh corgi belongs to herding group with colors Red, Brindle, Black/Tan, Black, Blue/Tan, Blue. It has light shed with medium sized hair. The Cardi’s is suitable for urban or suburban places, if the they given lot of attention by their masters
Nature of Breed
The cardigan Welsh Cardi is very versatile; it has been used for both Herding and Companionship purposes. The Cardi’s is very active with high energy level and use that energy as often as possible. This Cardi’s like intellectual challenges, obedience training and trick-performing. The Cardi is anti-social, when they exposed to other animals and it takes time to go with them. This breed should be trained properly ,otherwise it turn their intelligent to bad end like stealing food ,moving out of their territories, etc. Hence this breed requires lot of attention.
