Breed Description
The Central Asian Ovtcharkas is believed to be the ancestor of all breeds. It is originated from different places throughout central Asia. Due to its presence in different locations in Central Asia, it has many names. The Central Asian Ovtcharkas is ideal for the role of shepherd dog, guard dog for most farms and families in these areas for many years. But even now it is not recognized by the American Rare Breed Association in the US.

Physical Characteristics
The Central Asian Ovtcharkas has several appearances as well as names like Turkmen Alabai, Central Asian Sheepdog (CAS), Aziat, and Middle Asian Ovtcharka depending on the particular areas where they breed. It has life span of 12- 14 years. The male breed weight (55-79 kg) with the height of (65 -78cm ).The female weights (40-65 kg) with the height of(60-69 cm).Regarding color of this breed ,all coat colors are options with the possible of solid colors, pintos brindles and parti colors. The female breeds averagely give birth to 5-7 puppies. They appear to be extra large in size with long or medium hair. The body of the Central Asian Ovtcharka is very deep, thick and solid in appearance with massive and slopping shoulders. There are ten variations in this breed ranging from Afghanistan to Russia .This breed is best in moderate to cold climate.

Nature of Breed
The central Asian Ovtcharkas is good protective dog with very fearless and courageous personality. This breed is very aggressive to other dogs, because it is dominant in nature. This breed should be given social training as soon as possible, till they become comfortable with strange animals. It is also used as home dog, since it is protective in nature and highly fearless to any stranger. Children stranger to the central Asian Ovtcharkas should not be kept alone. To avoid issues regarding this breed, it should be socialized from puppies.
