Breed Description
The Chinese Shar-peis is existed in the southern provinces of China. This breed is typically the dog of peasants. This breed is referred as fighting dogs in China and as guard dogs in Canada and United States; The Shar-Peis also shares a common origin with the Chow Chow, because of its blue black mouth and tongue.
Physical Characteristics
The Chinese Shar-Pei is a medium size dog with short hair and moderate shed. This breed has compact and square profile. This breed has very high set tail which gives it unique appearance. The Chinese Shar-Peis is also called as Wrinkle Dogs, Pei and Chinese Fighting Dog. The life span of this dog ranges between 7-12 years. This breed is belongs to Southern Non-Sporting group with medium sized appearance.In this breed both the male and female are of same height (45-50cm) and weight (18-25 kg). The female breed gives birth to 4-6 puppies. This breed dogs are in various colors like cream, fawn, red, and black. The Chinese Shar-Peis has short hair with moderate shed.
Nature of Breed
The Chinese Shar-Peis a moderately active in indoor with some space. This breed is very sensitive to heat. The Chinese Shar-Pei is highly intelligent, independent, dignified and snobbish breed .This Breed is very devoted and dedicated to their family. The Shar-Pei has an extremely dominant and independent nature. If this breed is given proper socialization, it does well with other pets and younger children. This breed highly avoids water. But it can be socialized to bath .Hence it is excellent house pets because they are considered to be extremely clean.
