Breed Description
This is one of the oldest retriever breed. The curly Coated Retrievers were used for retrieving from 18th century in England. This breed is developed by crossing the Close-Curled English Water Dog, Old Water Spaniel, St. John’s Newfoundland Dog, the Labrador, and the Poodle.

Physical Characteristics
The Curly Coated Retriever is good athletic dog with tight curly coat .This breed has wedge shaped head with large almond shaped eye. The Curly Coated Retriever appears to be strong alert and intelligent. This breed is also known as Curlies and CCR. The average lifespan of this dog ranges between 9 to 14 years. The male of this breed weighs 30 to 45 kg with the height of 63 to 68 cm, while the female breed weighs 30 to 40 kg with the height of 58 to 63 cm. The female breed gives birth to 8 puppies averagely. The only acceptable colors of the Curly-Coated Retriever are pure black or pure liver (brown). The size of this breed is large with short hair .The Curly Coated retriever is belongs to Gun dog Sporting group. This breed is not for apartment style environments.
Nature of Breed
The Curly Coated Retriever Dog is easily trained, since they are eager to please. This breed dogs are very active outdoor dogs. This breed will get matured only after 3 years. The Curly Coated Retriever is family dog, with more loyal and desire to them. Since it takes more time to mature, it is supervised closely. This breed is good watch dog and prevents family from danger. They are highly active and energetic dog. The Curly Coated Retriever is perfectly suit for family with active living style. The training to this dog is difficult, since it is independent in thinking. This breed is not a pet for everyone, but it is excellent for right individual or family.
