Breed Description
The Collies is originated in the highlands of Scotland. This breed is used as sheepdog for herding and guarding the flock for centuries. Queen Victoria liked Collies very much and she kept them at Balmorals Castle in Scotland. This helped Collie in gaining recognition and popularity all over the world.

Physical Characteristics
The Collies is medium sized dog with well-proportioned body. This breed is belonging to the group of Sheepdogs and Cattle dogs (herding group). The life span of this breed is between 14 to 16 years. The Collie is also known as Lassie. The male breed weighs (27-34 kg) with the height of (61-66 cm). The female breed weighs (23-29 kg) with the height of (56-61 cm). The female breed gives birth to 6 puppies. The Collie appears in four standard colors, they are sable and white, tricolor (white, black and tan), blue merle and white. This breed has long hair with heavy shade. The Collie is very active and energetic outdoors. This breed is also live comfortably in an apartment, if they are properly exercised.

Nature of Breed
The Collie is very polite, quick, and sharp minded dog with a sweet temperament. This breed is trained easily, because they are smart and has great grasping power. The Collie is possessive, caring, and very defensive of people whom it loves. This is a gentle, obedient pet that simply loves to play around especially with children. The Collies require proper time and attention of their master, because they get bored easily, when they are alone. This breed is very social and love to be surrounded with people or with other animals. The Collie is generally very cautious of strangers. This breed is completely devoted to its master.
