English Fox hound Dog Breed Information
Breed Description:
English fox hound can be easily identifiable in between other breeds. English fox hound are very intelligent. They have athletic looks. Their skull is wide and muzzle is very long. These dogs are hunting dogs by nature. These dogs have muscular and strong shoulders. The ears are shaped so that they prevent the problems in hunting. They are circular in shape and cuts and nicks can be appointed with this shape. Their eyes are large and brown in color. The dog that is prepared for dog show is large in size. Life span ranges from 10 to 13 years for both male and female English fox hound. Litter size ranges from 5 to 7 puppies. The groups to which these dogs belong are hounds and seen thounds. These dogs are available in color combination of black, white and tan. But white can also be with other colors like orange, yellow etc. their hair length is short and their body size is large. English fox hound male height is 56 to 63 cm and female height is 53 to 61 cm. English fox hound male weight ranges from 30 to 32 kg. Female English fox hound weight ranges from 29 to 32 kg. These dogs can’t survive in the apartments. These dogs are outdoor dogs. They like to live in large fenced yards.
Breed History:
They are mixture of various hounds and then intermixed with bull dog, grey hound and fox terrier. These dogs are used in pack hunt.
Nature of Breed:
English fox hound is a natural hunter dog. English foxhound has a friendly nature. These dogs are quite comfortable. Their most energy is used up when they are at youth stage. A typical English Foxhound is used for hunting till 7 to 8 years.
