Breed Description
The German Pinscher is officially recognized as a breed in its homeland Germany in 1879. This breed is used in the development of the Schnauzer as well as the Doberman and Miniature Pinscher. The German Pinscher is originally bred by the farming families of Germany to work as a larger, heavier ratter and protector for the farms. This breed is historically used as herding dogs and guardians for livestock.

The German Pinscher is sleek, athletic and well balanced in appearance. The life span of this breed is 12-14 years. This breed is belonging to Working Group. The German Pinscher is also known as Standard Pinscher. In this breed both male and female are of same height (41 to 49 cm) and weight (11 to 16 kg). The female breed gives birth to 6-8 puppies. This breed appears in various colors like solid fawn (Isabella) to a darker red color, stag red (red with black hairs mixed throughout) black or blue with tan to red markings. This breed is not recommended for houses with very small kids, because of their smaller size and terrier temperament, they may tease or play rough with this breed.
