The average weight of a male is around 110 to 120 pounds. The female Irish Wolfhound is heavier as compared to male and weighs around 130 to 150 pounds. The Irish Wolfhound has a long head. The neck is very muscular and slightly arched. It has a pointed muzzle. The Irish Wolfhound comes into a variety of colors ranging from grey, wheaten, brindle, red, black, pure white, brown, or fawn. But the very common color is grey.

The Irish Wolfhound is a very loving, gentle and generous dog. It is very thoughtful, patient and a very intelligent animal. The Irish Wolfhound loves to be with the family, and it is very loyal pet. It tends to be very friendly even with strangers, so it cannot be trusted as a watchdog. The Irish Wolfhound is very easy to train as it always wants to please the owner. It also bonds well with smaller pets if socialized properly but can cause problems for unknown pets.
