The Italian Greyhounds breed belongs to the toy group. This is a very old breed to be known. They were present at the time of ancient Egyptian civilization. From there the Italian Greyhound was brought to Europe. The Italian Greyhound is also known with the name of Piccolo Levrierio Italiano, IG, Iggy, and I.G. The average lifespan of the Italian Greyhounds ranges from 12 to 15 years.

Physical Features
The Italian Greyhounds is a very small animal. Both the male and female are of same shape and size and weigh the same. The average height of a Italian Greyhound is around 12 inches to 15 inches. The average weight of a healthy Italian Greyhound only around 3 to 5 kilograms. It has a sharp pointed muzzle with a dark colored nose. The eyes of this dog are dark colored. It has a straight tail which is curved slightly at the end. It has long legs. The coat of this dog is short and soft. The Italian Greyhound comes in solid gray, , cream, slate gray ,red, fawn, black, blue, speckled, white markings and flecked colors.
Nature and Temperament
The Italian Greyhounds is very gentle, loving and affectionate in nature. Training this dog is very easy as it is very obedient to the owner. Also it is very sensitive in nature and harsh tone can make it stressed. It is a very active dog and runs a lot. It is a great companion of the family as it is very playful. It becomes destructive if it is anxious or stressed a lot. They can be very good guard dog as they become wary of strangers and start barking.
