The Japanese Chin belongs to the toy dog group. The origin of the Japanese Chins dates back to the 732 AD. Their origin is uncertain as some think they are a Korean breed and some say they are Chinese. They were brought to Europe in 1600. The Japanese Chin is also called by the name of Japanese Spaniel or only Chin. The average life span of the Japanese Chin is around 10 to 12 years, and maximum 15 years.

Physical Characteristics
The Japanese Chin is a very small dog. The average height of a male as well as female Japanese Chin is about 7 to11 inches. The Japanese Chin weighs only 4 to 15 pounds. The eyes of this animal are almond shaped and dark coloured. The tail is covered with hair and is curly. The ears are fluffy and v shaped. The Japanese Chin can be of a combination of colours like Black and white, red and white, or black and white with some shades of tan. The coat is very smooth and silky
Nature of Breed
The Japanese Chin dog is a very loving and affectionate dog. It is very happy with those whom it trusts and knows well. It can behave aloof in case a stranger approaches it. It loves to be with the family and is very playful. This animal wants to be the centre of attraction, and if it does not get proper care and love from the owner it can become jealous and irritated.
