It is a small sized dog looks like a toy. It has a life span of 12-14 years. It is found in many colors such as white, black, spotted, cream, ivory, and yellow. The height of this dog is up to 36 cm and the weight is up to 8kg. It is very well adapted to apartment living and other confined lifestyles but they can also adapt the rural living style. They love to be with the owner always and get aggressive if left alone. They have long length of hairs which is not suited for running. They are very affectionate and friendly dogs. They are used as guard dogs but they also get friendly with strangers. They have a round head, bright eyes and floppy ears. They have white nails which can also be black sometimes. Their hairs are shiny and wavy.
Breed History
This breed came into existence in early medieval period but there is a debate about the place of origin which is either Germany or Italy. It was developed as a constant companion for the wealthy people. The efforts of some breeders make this breed popular in urban areas.
Nature and Temperament
It is a very loving and affectionate dog. It is also very clever and cautious pet. It is mostly used as a companion dog for ladies. It loves to be with the owner and get aggressive if left alone. So it is best suited for those people who work in their houses. These dogs are not good protectors as they get friendly with every stranger. They are good with children. They are always friendly in nature.
