It is a toy type small dog. It has a life span of 15-16 years and litter size of 2-4 puppies. It is found in black and tan color. Its weight is up to 18 pounds and the height is up to 16 inches, they have short hairs. This dog is very energetic and can do well in small apartments as well as in larger backyard. It is much better off in hot weather and also unhappy in cool climate due to its coat. It also comes in standard size as well as in small size. It is one of the oldest breeds. It has black hairs and small dark eyes. It has a long tapered nose and a flat narrow skull. The black hair with lighter brown patches on the feet and muzzle let him look different among many other breeds. This breed has different types of ears – cropped, natural erect, and button.

Breed History
This breed has a history related to two countries England and United States. This breed was used in England to hunt the rats. They were also used in traditional hunting to climb through grasses and thickets. These dogs were also called the ‘Gentleman’s Terrier’.

Nature and Temperament
It is a good companion dog. It is full of energy and an athletic dog. They love to play and perform well indoor. They love to please their owner. They are quick to learn. It is good with children and other dogs. If they are left alone they become bored and irritated.
