These are large sized dogs having a life span of 10-13 years and litter size of 6-9 puppies. It is found in mostly White color markings in ivory, yellow or orange around the head and ears. The nose is always dark and usually black. It has medium sized hairs. Its height is up to 75 cm. its weight is up to 45 kg. It is an outdoor dog. It is a large and fluffy dog. It is a mountain dog. It likes to live in cool climate as it is a mountain dog and it is not suited for hot climate. It uses to live near the water source. It is smaller than other working dogs but still strong enough. It is a smart guard dog. They have features like leaning, pawing and nuzzling. It is very loyal pet. These are defensive not aggressive. It barks loudly to make the owner alert.
Breed History
It is a native dog to the mountainous regions of the Apennine Mountains in the Italian region of Abruzzo. It is a hybrid breed which was bred from two different breeds. This breed was bred to defend flocks against both wolves and human thieves.
Nature and Temperament
These dogs are not so affectionate but very loyal dogs. These are the mountain dogs which are basically used to guard the sheep on hills. These are defensive pets. They never get angry soon. It always does what he want and never follow other people. It is a good guard dog. It is very alert dog.
