These are small sized dogs. They have toy type appearance. These dogs have a life span of 12-14 years and litter size of 3-6 puppies. They are found in many colors such as Salt and Pepper, Black and Silver, and Black. They have medium sized hairs. Its height is up to 14 inches. Its weight is up to 20 lbs. It is best for city environment. They are very emotional and always want to be with their family. It has a rectangular head with heavy eyebrows. It has a long and parallel muzzle. It has oval shaped deep and small eyes with dark color. They have muscular body. Its shoulders make a vertical line from the tip of the shoulder to the elbows. Its legs should be straight and long. They have small and round feet. The toes are slightly arched.
Breed History
This breed came into existence in early 1800s in Germany. It was used as a farm dog and a rat hunter. Standard Schnauzer with a small Affenpinscher both breeds were used to bred this breed. This breed got popularity in USA after Second World War.
Nature and Temperament
This is a very gentle breed. It is a very energetic pet. They love to play. They are mostly liked by the older people. They are also good with children. They are somewhat aggressive and ready to fight with other animals. They use to bark at a very small sound and are a good watch dog. They are always alert. They love to be with the owner and family. It is also a good protector.
