These are extra large sized dogs. These dogs have a life span of 10 years and litter size of 8-10 puppies. They are found in many colors such as black, brown, gray and black and white. They have medium sized hairs. Its height is up to 29 inches. Its weight is up to 150 pounds. It has athletic body. It is a large and solid looking dog. It is very powerful dog. It can do well both indoor and outdoor but it prefers a small yard. This dog does not like hot weather. It is a very good house dog because it adjusts very well in owner’s routine. Although they have large size but these are relaxed and calm dogs. It has a large and rounded shape. It has triangular ears which hang down the head. It has short and sturdy neck. Its face gives an intelligent and sometimes a sorrow look. It has a square body. It is an ideal swimmer and rescue dog.

Breed History
This breed got its name from a province in Canada called Newfoundland. It was developed by developed from the Labrador dogs with Great Pyrenees and Tibetan Mastiffs. It was used as a fishing dog. They are good swimmer so they were used to retrieve things from water.
