The Plott breed belongs to the hound group. This breed of dogs was brought from the Germany to America. They were bred in a place called the Plott Creek. The origins of this dog date back to 1750. The average lifespan of a Plott is around fifteen years. The Plott is also known as a Plotthund and Bevlin Hound.

Physical Features
The Plott has a medium sized body. The average height of a male Plott is 20 inches to 28 inches; and that of a female is around 20 to 23 inches. A healthy male Plott weighs around 23 to 27 kilograms. The weight of a female is around 18 to 25 kilograms. The Plott has a very strong and muscular body. It has a medium length pointed tail. The coat is short and shiny. The Plott can be of any shade of Brindle color i.e. black, dilute black, liver, brown, red, blue, chocolate, tan, orange, light or dark grey, yellow, slate gray, buckskin and Maltese.
Nature and Temperament
The Plott is a very brave. It can hunt large animals. And fight with even very strong ones. But it is also a very loving and affectionate pet which loves its family very much. They love to be with the family and enjoy the company of kids. They are very easy to train as they are obedient natured. They need to be trained and socialized from early age if they are to be kept as pets. The Plott hound is an active dog and needs lot of exercise to stay physically and psychologically fit and healthy.
