Redbone Coonhounds Dog Breed Information
Breed Description:
These are medium sized muscular dogs which were developed for hunting originally and their life span is 11-15 years. Their litter size is 6-10 puppies. These dogs are expert in hunting cougar, bear and bobcat. They have large length of hairs. Coonhounds are very agile and coordinated dogs. They are the best among all the hunting dogs. Their face gives a very sad expression due to sad eyes and long ears up to the tip of nose. They have cat like paws with thick pads and nose is always black. The puppies always use to chew everything they get. The male coonhound is generally larger than the female. They use to drool a lot.

Breed History:
This breed was originated in Germany in 1800s. It was the blend of the bloodhounds and foxhounds. This breed was named on the name of a breeder named Peter Redbone. At that time a couple of hunters got together with the intent of developing a good hunter that was red with speed and agility and as a result saddlebacks came into existence.
Nature of Breed:
This breed is excellent for the families with children because they use to play with children. They are very happy, mellow and even tempered dog. They are affectionate and love being with owner. They have a pleasant sound instead of bark. These dogs need not much attention of the family its enough to be with the owner for them. They have high energy and happy personality, and love to play with children.This breed is one of the friendly,eager to please everyone and loyal breeds.
