Breed Description:
These are large sized dogs. They are of white color with red markings or red with white markings. They have a life span of 8-10 years and litter size of 2-10 puppies. These dogs can manage in the apartments if they are well trained. They are somewhat sensitive and cannot tolerate heat. They always want to be near about their owner. Saint Bernard is a good digger and also a good jumper. It is a strong and powerful dog with a very tall and muscular body and a large powerful head. It has so many wrinkles on the forehead.
Physical Characteristics:
Its nose is very broad with wide open nostrils. Their noses and lips are always black. It has brown colored eyes which are set deep and are medium in size. The legs of this breed are very strong having a long tail. It has also strong toes.
Nature of Breed:
These dogs look like the hunter dogs due to its extra large body size but in real they are very gentle, sensitive and sweet dogs. These are loyal pets and always eager to please its master. They are fond of playing with children and other pets. These dogs need adequate training. These are protector and good watchdogs. They are actually very sweet and gentle but strangers usually fear of these dogs due to their extra large sized body. These have a good sense of smell. These dogs never bark unless any reason to bark. Another good feature of these dogs is that it never wanders far from the home.
