Salukis Dog Breed Information
Breed Description:
These are medium sized dogs having a life span of 12-14 years and the litter size of 5-7 pups. They can any of the colors White, cream, fawn, golden, red, grizzle and tan tricolor (black, tan and white), black and tan. They have long hairs on their body. These dogs need open and larger place to live that’s why these are not recommended for the apartments. These dogs prefer warmer climate and they like to run outside in the open. They also need soft bed to sleep in the night. It is considered to be the oldest breed in the world. These are the royal dog of Egypt. These dogs are very slim and thin in structure. It has long ears and its eyes are mostly light to dark brown. It has muscular shoulders. It is even-tempered and very sensitive. They are very loyal dogs and are mostly attached to a single person of the family.
Breed History:
These dogs have a long history. It is one of the oldest breeds in the world. They have been found buried and mummified alongside Pharaohs in Egypt.
These are considered as cherished, household dwellers in countries where other dogs are considered unclean and unworthy. The Arabs believe that they are a gift of Allah.
Nature of Breed:
It is a sensitive, loyal and good companion which is a good watchdog. They are very gentle in the house and agile outdoor. It is best after the perfect training. They need human affection, other wise it leads to destruction of shoes and furniture.
