Breed Description:
The Scottish Deerhounds is the breed which existed before many centuries. This breed is bred from Greyhound. This breed is mainly bred for deer hunting.

Physical Characteristics:
The Scottish Deerhound appears to be larger in size and with strong bone structure. The life span of this breed is approximately 11 years. This breed is belong to Hound group with medium sized hair .This breed appears in many colors like dark blue gray, dark and light gray, brindles, yellow, sandy red and fawn colors. The male breed weighs (38-52 kg) with the height of (76-81cm), while female weighs (34-43kg) with the height of (63-76cm).The female give birth to 4-7 puppies. This breed is also known as Deerhound. This breed has moderate hair shed. In this breed, ears are high set with dark color which was regardless to body color.
Nature of Breed:
The Scottish Deerhounds is large graceful dog with gentle and sweet nature. This breed can be used as wonderful hunting dogs or family pets. This breed is good in apartment, if it is given plenty of exercise regularly. This older breed is very good to children. The Scottish Deerhound is a very brave and persistent in nature,for this reason it is used as hunting dog. In spite of regal and quiet nature, they are friendly and patient. This breed makes unusual howl sound while hunting .This breed should be socialized properly to be a good watch dog, because it is shy with stranger. This breed get easily stressed and become unhappy, when they face over noisy and chaotic atmosphere.
The Scottish Deerhound is good companion dog.
