Breed Description:
The Shetland Sheep dog is originated in the Shetland Islands of Scotland. The Shetland Sheepdog is commonly used as a working or herding dog on farms and other agricultural business. This breed is rarely found in Shetland because it is replaced by more popular Border Collie.

Physical Characteristics:
The Shetland Sheepdog is a small breed dog. This breed is also known as Sheltie, Shetland Collies, Dwarf Scotch Shepherds and Townie. The life span of this breed is between 12 to 15 years. In this breed both male and female are of same height (33-40 cm) and weight (7-9kgs).The female breed give birth to 4 to 6 puppies. This breed appear in various colors like Sable, mahogany, bi-blue’s(Black, Grey and a bit of White), Blue Merle, golden brown, tricolored (Black, White and Tan), and bi-black, Black and Tan coloring. This breed has long hair with heavy shed. The Shetland Sheepdogs can be used as both outdoor or indoor dogs.
Nature of Breed:
The Shetland Sheepdog is good companion dog. This breed is loyal, affectionate, intelligent and very willing to please others. This breed is excellent with family members and children. The Shetland Sheepdog should be kept under supervision, because as a small breed, it is easily injured. This breed is well socialized to be a good watch dog. Some breed of Shelties have the undeserving reputation of being too vocal, this can be quickly over come with good training. This breed should be given exercise regularly, when they are in indoors.
The Shetland Sheepdogs is normal pet dog.
