Skye Terriers Dog Breed Information
Breed Description:
The Skye Terrier is said to be created by crossing Maltese dog with local terrier or by crossing the Celtic terriers with the Swedish Vallhund. This breed becomes popular with Queen Victoria in the 1800s.
Physical Characteristics:
The Skye Terrier is small elegant looking breed with a sturdy bone structure and hard muscles. The life span of this breed is ranges between 12-15 years. This breed is belonging to Terrier and AKC Terrier group. This is the breed with twice long as it is high. The male Skye Terrier weighs (11.5 kg) with the height of (25.5 cm). The female breed weighs (10.35 kg) with the height of (23 cm).The female give birth to 3-6 puppies. The Skye Terrier has long hair with moderate shed. This breed appears in various colors like Blue, Black, gray, fawn, silver, or cream with black muzzle, ears, and tail tip, preferably. This breed is quite well to apartment or home if it is given proper exercise.
Nature of Breed:
The Skye Terrier is easy going breed with polite nature. This breed is Excellent in Dog shows, because it doesn’t anger easily. The Skye Terrier needs to have extensive socialization with people when they are young in order to be calm around people. The Skye Terrier is the perfect fit for a loving family. This breed has ability to interact with strangers without any troubles. This breed becomes nervous to stranger if they are not properly socialized to interact with people. Sometimes it can bark and bite the stranger if it feels uncomfortable.
