Breed Description:
The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is the first breed originated in Ireland. This breed is one of the three varieties of large terriers. This breed is created by crossing Kerry blue terrier with one of the larger mixed terrier breeds popular in the Irish farming communities.

Physical Characteristics:
The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is a medium sized dog which appears to be very square and solid built. The breed is very athletic in nature. The life span of this breed appears to 10- 15 years. This breed belongs to Terrier group with long hair. In this breed, apricot color in puppies and wheaten in adults are only acceptable. The male Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers weighs (16-20kg) with the height between (46-51cm).The female breed weighs (14-18 kg) with the height of (43- 48 cm). The Female breed gives birth to 5-6 puppies averagely. The Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers is also known as Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier and Wheaten Terrier. This breed is good in indoors, if it is given regular exercise.

Nature of Breed:
The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is the breed with less independent and stubborn in nature than any other breeds in Terrier group. This also corrected easily with proper training and socialization. This breed expects new challenging tasks and constantly ranging routine. The male Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is more aggressive than female, so neutering and socialization is particularly important. This breed is somewhat stand-offish with new people but generally accept people after a few visits. This Character is ideal for this terrier only. Hence this breed is an excellent companion and watch dog.
