Standard Schnauzers Dog Breed Information

Breed Description:
The Standard Schnauzer is the breed first developed in Germany in the 14th century. This breed is created by black German poodles, spitz breeds with large terriers. In the late 1800’s this breed was very popular as a farm and watchdog. This breed has since evolved into two other categories:
1. The Miniature Schnauzer
2. The Giant Schnauzer
These two are very similar to Standard Schnauzers but the only difference is the size.

Physical Characteristics:
The Standard Schnauzer is a distinctive looking dog with its beard and whiskers, bushy eyebrows and overall impression of power and dignity. The lifespan of this breed is between 13-16 years. This breed is also known as Mittelschnauzer. This breed is belonging to Terrier and AKC Working group. The Standard Schnauzer appears in various colors like black, black and silver or salt and pepper. The male Standard Schnauzer weighs (14-20kg) with the height of (46-51cm). The female breed weighs (14-18 kg) with the height of (43-48 cm). The female breed gives birth to 3-6 puppies. This breed appears to be medium sized with medium size of hair with light shade. The Standard Schnauzer is good with indoor with regular exercise and a large fenced yard is too good for them.

Nature of Breed:
The Standard Schnauzer is a very well tempered breed. This breed requires lots of attention, training and proper, regular exercise. The Standard Schnauzer very loyal dog that will protect their families and territories, even it faces much larger dogs or even strange people. This breed is an excellent watch and guard dog. It is also be a good companion dog, if it is given proper socialization and training. The Standard Schnauzer learn commands extremely fast and does best when praised. Similarly they will not respond to negative commands, because this breed is dominant in nature. Hence the Standard Schnauzer is the breed requires proper socialization and training.
