It is a large sized dog having a life span of 10 to 12 years and litter size six to nine puppies. It has medium sized hairs. It can be found in steel Grey, Grey/Brown, chestnut Brown, Brown/White, Black, White colors. The weight of this dog is 50 to 60 pounds. It needs open and free area to exhaust its huge energy. This dog is not fit for apartments. They are only suitable in large houses with open yards. It prefers cool climate rather than humid enviorment. It is hunting dog and can be recognized by its wild hairs and large tufts and with thick eyebrows. They have muscular and lengthy body. It has eyes like large ovals, which is yellow or brown in color irises. The nose color is brown. It always has an eager expression. They have brilliant sense of smelling. Due to high level of energy they are good jogging companion.

Breed History
Wirehaired Pointing Griffon is originated by a famous breeder named as E. K. Korthals. The dog was created during 1870’s by crossing a Fresh pointer by a German Griffon. The breeder tried to get a breed having good sense of smelling and perfect for hunting. The main purpose behind the breed’s origination was hunting.

Nature and Temperament
It is an active dog which can be trained very easily. It is also good for children. It is mostly suited in free environment. It is an obedient pet.
It is a good protector and great guard dog. It can manage in both cool and hot weather. They are good swimmer also.
